Recently Ministry of External Affairs of India made an important announcement for document verification when you are applying for a passport. The updated measures will dispense applicants with the physical document verification process.
Applicants do not need to carry the original documents as well as self-attested copies for the document verification. The new initiatives will even speed up the process of getting a Passport early as passport officials will not have to verify and scan all documents personally.
Applicants can upload the following documents on DigiLocker Application (android & app store) to accelerate the process of getting a new passport.
- Aadhar Card
- Driving License
- Voter ID Card
- Pan verification Record
- Issue of Arm License
- Birth Certificate
- Caste Certificate
- Ration Card
- Pension Certificate
- Insurance Policy Certificate-Life
- Class 10th Passing certificate
- Electricity Bill
Indians are marching everyday towards digitalization and this initiative will encourage new generations. Regional Passport Officer, Wren Mishra shared this information with the television audience. According to Report, over 5.50 crore users are already registered on DigiLocker App.

Applicants can choose DigiLocker for submission of their certificates/marksheets of 10th class, PAN Card, Voter ID,Driving Licence,e-Aadhaar at the time of application, instead of physical submission.
